FAQs
How do you work with Tribal Nations while respecting sovereignty?
Sovereignty and self-determination guide everything we do. We:
Never impose solutions or assume we know what's best
Co-create all services with community partners
Honor Tribal protocols and decision-making processes
Ensure contracts respect Tribal procurement requirements
Build internal capacity so you're not dependent on consultants
Recognize Tribal governments as equals in the partnership
Honor that the data and information belongs to the community; not us
What makes Juniper & Pine different from other consultants?
Most consultants offer training. Most wellness providers offer healing. We integrate both into systems transformation.
We're unique because we:
Are 100% Indigenous-led
Combine organizational development with healing practices
Use a proprietary framework grounded in Indigenous epistemology
Focus on sustainable change, not quick fixes
Compensate knowledge holders and reinvest in communities
Measure both organizational and cultural outcomes
How long does an engagement typically last?
It depends on your goals:
Single training: Half-day to 3 days
Leadership coaching: 3-6 months
Organizational consulting: 6-36months
Certificate programs: 4-6 days in person or up to 6 months virtually
We design timelines that fit your capacity, budget, and goals.
Can you work with us remotely, or do you only provide in-person services?
We offer both! We've successfully worked with communities across Alaska, the Lower 48, and Canada through:
Virtual consulting and coaching
Hybrid models (some in-person, some virtual)
Fully in-person intensive engagements
Self-paced digital learning
We'll design the delivery format that works best for your team. However, some of our certificate programs can only be facilitated in-person due to their sensitive nature and circle facilitation.
How much do your services cost?
Investment varies based on scope, timeline, and format:
Single training sessions: Starting at $2,500/day
Certificate programs: $800-$1,500/participant; discounts for Tribal members
Digital products: starting at $3.99
Leadership coaching: Custom quotes
Organizational consulting: Custom quotes based on scope
We offer:
Sliding scale for under-resourced communities
Group and cohort discounts
Payment plans
Scholarships (limited availability)
Do you accept federal grants or indirect cost rates?
Yes! We have extensive experience with:
Federal grant requirements
Tribal procurement processes
Indirect cost rate structures
Multi-year contracts
Performance-based agreements
We've successfully managed federal grants in our previous lives and understand compliance requirements.
How do we get started if we’re interested?
Three easy steps:
Schedule a free consultation – 30-minute call to discuss your needs
Receive a custom proposal – We'll design services specific to your goals
Finalize agreement – Sign contract and begin the work
Do you require a long-term commitment?
No. We offer:
Single training sessions (no ongoing commitment)
Project-based consulting (defined start and end)
Retainer relationships (month-to-month or annual)
Multi-year partnerships (for complex transformation work)
You choose what works for your organization.
What does healing-centered mean?
Healing-centered approaches go beyond trauma-informed care. Instead of asking "What's wrong with you?" we are interested in who you are as a whole person, what your thoughts, feelings and beliefs are, and how you came to be where you are. We want to partner with you.
Healing-centered work:
Focuses on strengths and resilience, not just problems
Addresses root causes, not just symptoms
Builds collective wellbeing, not just individual coping
Creates conditions for people and systems to thrive
Honors culture as a source of healing
Is this just wellness training, or do you actually change organizational systems?
We change organizational systems. While wellness skills matter, sustainable change requires:
Shifting organizational culture
Aligning policies and practices with values
Building leadership capacity
Transforming how teams relate and communicate
Creating infrastructure that supports (not undermines) wellbeing
We measure success by organizational outcomes: reduced turnover, improved morale, stronger alignment, better service delivery.
How do you integrate Indigenous knowledge with evidence-based practice?
We view Indigenous knowledge AS evidence. Our framework draws from:
Traditional healing practices passed down through generations
Contemporary neuroscience and trauma research
Organizational development theory
30+ years of practice with Indigenous communities
We don't "add" culture to Western models. We center Indigenous epistemology and integrate contemporary science where it supports (not contradicts) traditional wisdom.
What if our staff are skeptical of "healing" language?
We meet people where they are. If your team prefers language like "resilience-building," "workforce development," or "organizational effectiveness," we adapt our language while maintaining the integrity of the approach.
What matters is the transformation, not the terminology.
Can you train our entire workforce, or do you only work with leadership?
Both! We work with:
Executive leadership and Tribal councils
Middle management and supervisors
Frontline staff and service providers
Entire departments or organizations
Multi-agency collaboratives
We design services for whoever needs to be involved in the change.
What happens after your contract ends?
We build your capacity to sustain the work, including:
Training internal facilitators and champions
Providing tools, resources, and documentation
Creating sustainability plans
Offering ongoing technical assistance (optional)
Our goal is to work ourselves out of a job—your internal team should be able to carry the work forward.
Do you offer services in Indigenous languages?
Currently, our primary delivery is in English. However, we:
Often offer a prayer in one of our Indigenous languages to open
Honor the use of Indigenous languages in training spaces
Incorporate cultural terminology and concepts
Partner with translators when needed
Encourage bilingual/multilingual learning environments
If language access is important for your team, let's discuss options.
What information do you need from us to create a proposal?
To create a customized proposal, it helps to know:
What challenges you're facing
What you hope to accomplish
Who needs to be involved
Your timeline and budget range
Any specific requirements (e.g., procurement processes)
We can discuss all of this in the free consultation—no prep needed!
How quickly can you start?
Single trainings: Often within 4-8 weeks
Consulting projects: Typically 4-12 weeks from signed contract
Certificate programs: If in-person, can often be scheduled within 4-12 weeks
If you have urgent needs, let us know—we'll do our best to accommodate.
Can we start small and expand later?
Absolutely! Many partnerships begin with:
A single training to "try us out"
A small pilot project in one department
Leadership coaching before full organizational work
Organizational assessment before committing to transformation
Starting small allows you to build trust and see results before making larger investments.
